William H. Whidden The Arcadian - 09 Dec 1948 William Hardy Whidden, well known Bunker retired farmer died Tuesday, December 7, at his home in Bunker following a long illness. He was 74. Mr. Whidden was a native of Desoto County and was born here October 16, 1874. He had resided here his entire life. Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Louella Sheffield Whidden; the following children: Mrs. Harold Curry of Venice, Wallace Whidden of Arcadia, Harvey B. Whidden of Boca Grande, Mrs. Bryant Coker of Arcadia; Louis Whidden US Army in S. Dakota, Gleen R. Whidden US Navy in Guam, Gilbert L. Whidden US Marines Washington D.C., Mrs. Homer Christ of Arcadia; two brothers, James Irvin Whidden of Wauchula, Joshua O. Whidden, Zolfo Springs. Funeral services arranged by the Robarts Funeral Home, were held at 4 p.m. Wed. at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Interment was made in the cemetery there. Rev. W. E. Denington and Rev. Walter Bates had charge of the services. Active pallbearers were John Coker, John Boatwright, Frank Bates, George Stonebraker, J. D. Albritton, W. M. Short. Honorary pallbearers were Maston Bates, Sears Coker, Aaron Bates, Andy Wensell, John Easter, and Fred Munson.
