"Solomon Copeland Senior, probably the second youngest of the four brothers, was born in Jefferson County, Tennessee, in 1804. He was twice married. The name of his first wife, who died in Tennessee, is not known. She was the mother of James, William, Milly Jane, and another child that died in infancy. His second wife, to whom he was married in Tennessee, was Malinda Sample, who was also born in Jefferson County April 4, 1809, and was the mother of ten children. Solomon Copeland and his wife spent the remainder of their lives at the present Richter place after settling there in 1832. He died there August 22, 1873, his widow surviving until February 19, 1879. Both are buried in the Vienna Cemetery." (King's History of Maries County, page 339)
